SPOILERS AHEAD
Hey what's up you guys? I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I did! I turned 18 on Thursday (April 3rd) and I celebrated by seeing Captain America the next day, which was also it's opening day (April 4th)! I was so stoked! I love the Marvel movies so I was super excited to see this movie. I went with one of my best friends, who apparently knows nothing about any superhero movie, but I quickly brought her up to speed while we were in line (only a 10 minute wait!) and she only had a few questions here and there.
Want to know what it's all about? Keep on reading! Want to know just about my experience going to see the movie? Keep an eye out for my next blog post!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, otherwise known as Captain America 2.
So the basic overview of the movie is that it's current day and The Cap, aka Steve Rogers, (Chris Evans) and Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanova (Scarlett Johansson) start the movie off working a mission together to save some hostages. Later on, they find out S.H.I.E.L.D. (agency for superheroes basically) has been compromised. The Cap and Natasha work with a hero from the Marvel comic book realm who is newly introduced to the Marvel movies as Sam Wilson, although some may know him better as The Falcon. Together the three work together to try to figure out who has taken over S.H.I.E.L.D. and try to put a stop to it. Along the way a new villain is introduced, The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who gets in the way of the trio trying to save their agency.
SPOILERS BELOW
My review: It was awesome, but pretty predictable. I'll explain why later. I loved the friendship the writers built between Steve and Natasha, while it seemed like an unlikely friendship (to me), it worked. I don't think it beat the friendship The Cap had with Sam Wilson though. I really enjoyed the Sam Wilson character, he brought humor to the film (not that it was lacking humor) and he turned out to be a loyal comrade.
The "Winter Soldier" on the other hand, it was way too predictable that he was Bucky, The Cap's best friend from the previous film. They gave it away when Steve visited The Captain America museum and they talked about "his loyal best friend" Bucky. They practically just handed us the end of the movie right then and there! Hell, if you had checked the cast list before you went to the movie, you already knew what was going to happen!
Anyway, the overall plot was good. I did not see Hydra coming back into the picture, especially not almost 70 years later! Although, they never technically left the picture, but nobody knew that. When they tried to pass off the whole "Fury got shot, he's dead" plot line though, I didn't buy it for a second. Why? Remember Coulson in The Avengers? Yeah, he "died" and then he got his own show, so I didn't buy Fury's death for a second, which is good because he wasn't dead after all.
The film was definitely action packed, with all of the fight scenes, car explosions, and weaponry. If you were worried about it being focused on some kind of "romance" between Natasha and Steve since she was a main character, don't worry, that doesn't happen and I don't see it ever happening. No, the film was fully focused on finding the enemy, although there were definitely scenes of Natasha trying to hook Steve up with a date. Those scenes, were just a few of the humorous parts of the movie. We also had maybe a 10 minute scene with Fury just spitting out great one liners, one right after another. I also enjoyed getting a glimpse at the people controlling The Winter Soldier, aka Bucky.
After Credits Scene: Because you know pretty much every Marvel movie has one! I did not expect this scene at all though! Spoilers: What we're shown after the credits are two members of Hydra discussing what to do next. And since most people started talking and leaving before/during this scene, I have no idea what they were saying. But I did catch that THEY HAVE CREATED A REPLICA OF LOKI'S STAFF, WHAT THE HECK! AND THEY HAVE THE TWINS, QUICKSILVER AND SCARLET WITCH CAPTURED AND THEY PLAN TO USE THEM AGAINST THE AVENGERS. Holy crap did I forget that they were coming into the picture soon! I had completely forgotten that they were going to been in the next Avengers movie!
Overall rating? 10 out of 10! Yes the Bucky thing was predictable, but I loved the movie! Leave a comment and let me know what you guys thought about the movie!
Catch ya guys later!

The Horror of Cincinnati Horror Hound
Hey what's up you guys? I hope you all had a good weekend! I didn't do much, but I still somehow managed to put this off blog until now haha. Anyway, this post is all about Horror Hound, which is the convention I mentioned in my last post.
Horror Hound is basically a Comic Con for movies from the horror genre, but it's also for those of the sci-fi (or syfy) genre as well. It's a weekend long event, starting on Friday and going all the way to Sunday and you could buy a ticket for the whole weekend, two days, or just one day. People also dress up for the convention just like at Comic Con! There always a lot of awesome costumes, but I am so uncultured when it comes to films, that my sis (Twiggy) always has to explain what they're from to me (about 98% of the time, it's sad). This was my fourth year attending the convention and it gets worse and worse every year. Not the convention itself, the convention itself is always great, it's more so the people and the people who run the Cincinnati Horror Hound.
Let me give you a little background on my Horror Hound experience.
In 2011 and 2012 the convention was held in a small hotel across from a convention center, which we always thought was dumb, but it worked well! Yeah it got a little crowded at times, but there were never enough people to make them think, "Hey, let's move across the street!" No, the convention my first two years was great. No lines going outside, you could buy your ticket when you got there (only 20 bucks!), you even had time to buy a t-shirt while getting your ticket without being considered obnoxious by the other people still in line. The lines for celebrities were never too terrible, the worst was standing in the wind for maybe... 30 minutes? to meet Sean Patrick Flanery (Connor in The Boondock Saints). But then The Walking Dead happened.
(Left to Right: Me, Twiggy, Flanery. This is actually kind of embarrassing to look at...)
Last year was when The Walking Dead got big and that's also when they decided to finally move the convention across the street to the convention center. It was nuts. The amount of people that showed up, just for Saturday, was probably three times the size of the normal Horror Hound crowd. And it was all because everyone from The Walking Dead was there and I mean everyone. Rick, Lori, Carl, Andrea, Herschel, Daryl, Shane, and Merle were all there and it was so crowded (I may be missing a few people.) Not only was the crowd bad, but the lines. Carl and Lori's lines were like a 3 hour wait, where as Rick and Daryl's were 4 HOURS. And people actually stood in these lines! I want to meet Norman Reedus (aka Daryl) just as much as any other Boondock Saints (Murphy) fan, but we were not waiting in that line. We did meet Scott Wilson (Herschel) though! His line was not long at all! It was even shorter than Flanery's line! He was super nice and cool about being there even though he was sick.
(Left to Right: Wilson, Twiggy, Me. Thankfully I was less embarrassing looking last year.)
And then there was this year.
3 AND 1/2 HOUR WAIT TO GET INSIDE. Not to mention we had to buy our tickets a month a head of time because the single day tickets sold out already; Twiggy had to buy weekend passes for us to go (we only went Saturday) AND the ticket price went up! But the line to get in. We got there at 9 because it had always opened at 10; not this year. Nope, it opened at 11 and we didn't know that until we were already awake. Anyway, we got in line at 9. It was cold, and windy, and a 2 hour wait, which didn't bother us too much. What bothered us was when we got to the door to get in and they told us we had been standing in the wrong line. No one thought to make sure everyone was in the right line, oh no, so instead we had to wait in an even longer line for another 1 and 1/2. And while we waited in line, Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness), who was the main celebrity this year, showed up 2 HOURS LATE and was rude as hell. People were clapping and cheering him on, one person even shouted, "I love your work!" and he just blew them off! Thankfully we weren't there to see him. Hell no, we were there for David Della Rocco (Rocco in The Boondock Saints)! There were only three people in his line! I felt so bad, but it was also super nice at the same time. And I have to say, he looks good for being in his early 60s! He was really nice too!
(Left to Right: Me, Roccoc, Twiggy. We're not really that pale, I swear.)
The rest of the convention always has booths full of art, collectibles, movies, etc. and they were the same as always. We got some pretty cool stuff, but after the clusterfuck we experienced when we got there, and trying to find our way around (they had the rooms on the map labeled wrong!) we decided this was it, no more Cincinnati Horror Hound for us. It was a great run, but we are not going through that mess again.
Thankfully Indianapolis and Columbus both have Horror Hound conventions, so we shall be attending one of those two from now on! After reading this, I hope you guys not only learned about a new convention you are interested in going to (comment and let me know or if you have questions about it?), but I hope you also learned not to go to the Cincinnati convention. Trust me, you'll regret it.
If any of you went to Horror Hound this year, or any of the past years, let me know! I don't know anyone other than my sis that goes!
I'll leave you guys with this awesome cosplay (costume) that we saw this year.
Catch ya later!

The Beginning of Something Kat-tastic.
Alright, bad pun aside, welcome to my blog! I'll keep this welcome post short and sweet!
What are my posts going to be about? Reviews mostly! They'll mostly be about movies and TV shows (once I'm caught up, school's been crazy!) I love watching new movies and I'm completely addicted to my television (but aren't we all?) I've written a couple of reviews on my personal Tumblr, but I honestly know that no one read them because frankly, they were too long! On here I will be sure to keep them on the shorter side, but there will be tons a detail!
What will my reviews consists of? In my posts I'll give an overview of the movie/show (so lots of spoilers) and give my personal opinion about the plot, sets, characters, actors, lots of details. But don't worry, this isn't going to be a "this is what I think and it's right" kind of blog, I want to hear your opinions too! I love discussing shows and movies with people, so I want people to feel welcome to tell me what they think!
Is that all I'm going to post? No! I'll also post more personable things from time to time, like when I go to conventions or concerts! I just attended a convention on March 22nd so I'll be posting about that very soon, this weekend hopefully! I will also be posting about college stuff because guess what, I'm going to be a freshman next year! I'm super stoked and super scared, so if you have advice, hit me up!
Once I get a handle on having a blog, I hope to start making YouTube videos so you guys won't have to read all of my reviews because yes, I know reading reviews can get boring sometimes. Time frame on when they'll start? Hopefully during (early) summer! I know that's a ways a way, but videos take planning and time to make and I don't have a ton of spare time on my hands right now to start the videos.
I'm really excited about starting my blog and I hope you guys enjoy it! If any of you experienced bloggers have any advice, please feel free to share since I am completely new to this!
Catch ya later!
